Our Board of Directors
Friends Life Care at Home is a nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization governed by a board of directors. The Friends System board includes up to 13 individuals, the majority of whom must be members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). These board members, and the boards of Friends’ subsidiaries, are appointed at an annual meeting. Additionally, the board of directors may occasionally appoint one or more emeritus directors.
Our Executive Team
Carol A. Barbour, MBA
President
Carol Barbour serves as President of the Friends Life Care at Home System and its subsidiary corporations: Friends Life Care at Home in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, and Intervention Associates, a care management and home-health-care company. Previously, Carol served for five years as Vice President of Project Management at FRC Management, Inc., the firm responsible for much of the development of the original Friends Life Care plan. Carol was named President of Friends Life Care at Home in 1991.
Before joining FRC Management, Carol held several positions at Mid-Atlantic Nursing Home Corporation, including Vice President for Planning and Budgeting, Assistant Vice President for Operations, and Operations Manager. Carol supervised the daily operations of the company’s nursing home facilities in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey region — a total of 860 beds.
Carol earned a Master of Business Administration in health administration from Temple University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music therapy and worked for several years as a music therapist in long-term nursing and psychiatric facilities early in her career. She is a regular speaker at national professional associations on the subject of continuing care at home and has been featured in local and national media.
Henry L. Kriebel
Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer, Chief Operating Officer
Henry Kriebel joined Friends Life Care at Home in July 2000 after operating a successful health-care consulting business with clients in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Illinois.
Prior to joining Friends Life Care at Home, Henry served in several executive positions, including Vice President of Finance for Health America of Pennsylvania, Executive Vice President, HealthScope/United (New York), and CEO of American Health Care Providers, Inc. (Arkansas). Henry provided oversight to the financial operations of these organizations, which served up to 300,000 members.
Henry earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Drexel University. He became a CPA (currently inactive) in Pennsylvania in 1970 and is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).
Catherine Raines, RN
Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Catherine joined Friends Life Care at Home in November 2006. In her position as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, she oversees the sale of plan memberships and supervises and coordinates communications to the public. Catherine has more than 28 years of experience in the health-care field. She began her career as a hospital nurse, serving in the intensive care and post anesthesia care units for 15 years. Subsequently, she held a variety of sales and marketing positions in the long-term-care industry. She served as Regional Director/Manager of Sales and Marketing for several national providers of post-acute services, including Genesis Health Care and HCR-ManorCare. Catherine’s hands-on experience in health care contributes to her unique understanding of members’ and potential members’ needs.
Born and raised in the South, Catherine earned her nursing degree from the University of Mobile in Alabama. She participates at local Friends Life Care at Home seminars and is available to answer questions about the Affordable Life Care Plan. |
